Casual diving Cape Town » Diving with seals
A must for every scuba diver. Sit at a depth of 6 metres, surrounded by hundreds of seals playfully circling around you - A magical experience! They are also known as the clowns of Cape Town, as they are very playful, and they love to swim around scuba divers. Unlike above water, where they are slow and awkward, they are amazingly agile under the water, and it can happen that there are tens or even hundreds of seals around, performing their acrobatics under the water.

Type : Boat Dive
Found just off Houtbay, Cape Town, we recommend combing this experience with diving the nearby Maori or Aster Wrecks, or Tafelberg Reef.
Max depth : 12 - 21 meters
Type : Boat Dive
This site lies about 5km south of Simonstown, and can be combined with numerous other dive sites.

Max depth : 14 meters.
Type : Shore dive
This site can be done as a shore dive, but it is quite a long swim out - about 300 meters. Be sure to look out for the canons of the "Het huis te Kraaiestein" on your way out to the site - one of the oldest wrecks along the South African coast. The site can be combined with the Antipolis Wreck, or with Justin's Caves.
The video clip below has been taken on an exceptionally good day while scuba diving at Strawberry Rock, Cape Town. We were surrounded by seals on the day, and it was hard to get out of the water!
